KeyboardistPianist
Choral · Classical · Ghanaian Highlife
A keyboardist and pianist from Ghana, based in Accra and Germany. Over twenty years of playing, mostly in churches and concert halls, with the occasional small room in between.

About
i.
Ato grew up in Ghana. He started young: listening to music around the house, singing acapella with friends, and teaching himself the keyboard as a teenager. He played in his school choirs, then later in university choirs in Ghana. From 2014 to 2019 he was the principal organist of One Voice Choir Ghana.
ii.
He moved to Germany to study at Friedensau Adventist University. Living and studying there pulled him deep into European and German choral music, and that is now part of how he plays. So is the highlife he grew up with at home.
iii.
In 2020, Friedensau gave him the Waltraud & Herbert Blomstedt Award for outstanding musical engagement and excellence. Since then he has worked with pianist Marten Tilstra, violinist Andrei Sisu, and others, and played regularly in concert halls, churches, and smaller rooms across Ghana and Europe.

“I’d rather listen first,
then play.”
